London Georgian Film Festival 2023
Emerging Directors
Selcen Ergun's haunting and atmospheric debut feature Snow And The Bear was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and has won prizes in Europe and the US. Against the whiteness of the snowy landscapes a forward looking young nurse arrives in a remote Turkish village locked in outdated traditions and an endless winter. This is the first London screening and not to be missed.
Miracle is a compelling piece of filmmaking by director Bogdan George Aperti. With 42 long takes in one hour 53 minutes, this crime drama builds with an unmissable intensity. It's premiere was in the 2021 Venice Film Festival and this is only its second UK screening.
In A Room Of My Own, actors Taki Mumladze and Mariam Khundadze create a wonderfully liberating and intimate picture of modern womanhood in a small flat in Tbilisi, during the height of pandemic restrictions. Beautifully scripted by director Ioseb 'Soso' Bliadze and actor Mumladze, this is Georgian filmmaking at its best.
